London 2012, missing you already… Olá Rio!!

Well up until now I wouldn’t really have referred to myself as much of a sports expert or lover, but for the past two weeks I have abandoned my social life (goodness knows how many parties I’ve missed) and all domestic responsibilities (my manicurist is definitely going to be worrying about me by now!) to make sure I didn’t miss a moment of Team GB’s Olympic glory. I have absolutely loved every second and am actually rather depressed it’s all over.

Oh yes, Rio 2016 is firmly in my calendar too – I haven’t been to Brazil for many, many years so am very excited to spend some time out there discovering all my old favourite haunts. Brazil is actually one of those countries where no matter how many times you visit there’s always something or somewhere new to explore, but here’s my top list of incredible sights for any Brazilian newbie!

–          Mountain of Corcovado: This is a truly historic landmark in Rio and one of the first places I visited in Brazil. The mountain is high above Rio de Janeiro with the legendary open-armed statue of Christ The Redeemer at the peak. It’s one of the most amazing sights you’ll ever see and definitely not to be missed!

–          Iguazu Falls:Another absolute stunner, Iguazu Falls is one of those places you have to see to believe. It is one of the world’s most incredible waterfalls and is actually claimed by both Brazil and Argentina as a section of the water crosses the border. When you visit you can stand at a central point so the waterfall is all around you!

–          Bar do Copa:For anyone after a bit of beauty indoors, the Bar do Copa in Rio is one of the most stylist bars in the city. The super glamorous and decadent décor means this flashy and splashy club is where anyone who is anyone heads when in Rio.

–          Hotel Toriba: This will definitely be my go-to hotel come Rio 2016, resembling a pretty Swiss chalet surrounded by manicured gardens and beautiful woodland, Hotel Toriba is the perfect place to get you in the sporting mood with outdoor tennis courts, mountain biking,  swimming pool, jogging track and horse riding nearby.

Is it 2016 yet??
