Why thank you Melissa, that’s very generous of you – I’ve always heard great things about Ettinger, apparently they do amazing leather wallets too and isn’t it always good to get Christmas presents bought as early as possible?! (hint hint)
I’m so glad you enjoyed the Cathay Pacific afternoon tea; I predict that their new Premium Economy is going to be a huge success, especially if it even makes you want to turn right instead of left!
Sounds like you haven’t wasted any time getting back into the London social scene, I’ve actually been sailing around Turkey and I have been able to check out some potential new SLH properties. Bodrum remains a favourite location, especially the Miramar for those sporty TYpe A personalities with great Squash courts, the ultimate stress reliever. You can imagine that little black ball to be anything or anybody!! Boss, collegue, investor, banker, politician!!!
Turkey is such a beautiful country and although I’ve visited many times I’m always on the look-out for the hottest boutique hotels that I think are going to be a hit with SLH guests. One property that has really caught my eye at the moment is the Hôtel Les Ottomans in Istanbul, a magnificent 18th century seaside mansion, what’s not to like?
I also bumped into a couple of our most well-travelled Club members, who were returning to Les Ottomans to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary. It made me think how at SLH we have a hotel to suit every romantic occasion, from that first weekend away to couples returning 35 years later – I’d love to hear from our guests about your favourite romantic holiday!
Melissa, do you know if you’re going to be around for the Royal Jubilee weekend or will you have jet off to the States by then? I hear St. James’s Hotel and Club are offering a traditional British afternoon tea for two including the Queen’s favourite cakes, Battenberg and Dundee – shall we go and try it out?
