Thanks for the recommendation on Pillars, Paul, sounds like a wonderful place. You know me – the mere mention of a yacht and I practically come out in nautical stripes and boat shoes. Will try to squeeze it in!
I’ve had a great time back in London and managed to fill my diary with as many events as possible after being on hiatus in Asia.
Cathay Pacific held a fabulous afternoon tea with a Chinese twist to celebrate the launch of their new Premium Economy class. Now I normally get the shivers when I hear the word “Economy” when talking about air travel, but I have to say the new service does sound good. They are stressing the “Premium” over the “Economy” – much more leg room, cocktails and champagne, special menus, priority check-in and increased baggage allowance. If it’s anything as stylish as the launch party it could tempt me to turn right instead of left next time I fly! Delicious Dim Sum was served instead of scones and cake, and we were treated to a charming Chinese tea ceremony which had us all transfixed – apparently “tea meditation” is the new thing to relax the mind…The new service, which launches this month, is the perfect excuse to check out the SLH hotels in Hong Kong, Lanson Place and The Luxe Manor some time soon.
Then this week Country and Townhouse magazine threw a great drinks party at the Savoir shop on the King’s Road. It was a glamorous, rock and roll do sponsored by MYLA (one of my fave brands for seductive underwear) and Marquis Vodka who served up delicious cocktails all evening.
Being in London seems to be as dangerous on my credit card as being abroad though…I must tell you about a new purchase I’ve just made. In preparation for my next trip I’ve splurged at leather specialists Ettinger, on their Hurlingham Olive Havanna bag. I was admiring a gentleman’s luggage on the way home from Singapore and made a mental note of the brand – the quality is amazing! (I may have even got you Paul a little belated birthday present, aren’t you lucky!?) It’s the perfect size for a weekend away or carry on – cost per use is my mantra! They do lovely accessories and briefcases too – check out their online store here.
